The Laramie Project

The Laramie Project
by Moisés Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project
Directed by Derek Bertelsen
June 7 - July 7, 2018

About the show: The Laramie Project presents a deeply complex portrait of a community’s response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man living in Laramie, Wyoming. In a series of poignant reflections, the residents of Laramie react to the hate crime and surrounding media storm with anger, bewilderment and sorrow. The play portrays the seismic and deeply personal impact Matthew’s death had on this small town while also demonstrating the power of the human spirit to triumph over bigotry and violence.

Reviews

“This terrible story told in this magnificent production will stay in your heart and spur you to action.”

PerformInk

“The 12 actors make The Laramie Project come alive with fine performances as both Tectonic Theater members and Laramie residents.”

Third Coast Review

“The Laramie Project is one of those shows where the script alone almost assures a strong production, but this is one of the finest you could see. Every element comes together in perfect harmony to make the horrifying and emotional tale stay with you long after the play ends. It is a moving example of what theatre can be.”
